In agreeing our theme for 2020, our Worldwide Council drew together elements from our global listening process (Mothers' Union Listens, Observes and Acts) to shape the way forward.
They placed 'Building Hope and Confidence' at the heart of our call to support individuals and families to transform their lives.
The reason being that as we build hope and confidence in God we will be inspired and equipped to build hope and confidence in ourselves and in others, in both a local and global context.
Links to the latest Coronavirus (Covid-19) Information for Mothers' Union will be found on the News and Events Page within the June 2020 e-Newsletter.
The newsletter provides an update on some of the MU work in action during the current crisis, a wealth of resources for your use, updates on events and also includes Words of Encouragement from Worldwide President Sheran Harper.
New MU caravan commissioned
Pictured right and below is the new MU caravan.
On 16 March, Bishop Julian commissioned our new MU caravan. Following a Talents Challenge in 2017 to raise funds for a much needed new caravan 120 Branches raised a remarkable £38,000. We now have a brand new caravan which will provide holidays for needy families and older people in need of respite.
It has been fitted out with a nautical theme and we now await the guests - of which there are quite a few.
It is with regret that, due to the current health crisis, it has been necessary to cancel all AFIA holidays for the foreseeable future.
Our 2020 membership is 2811 and we now have 113 Branches in the Blackburn Diocese.

The Mother's Union Prayer
We thank you for your love so freely given to us all.
We pray for families around the world.
Bless the work of the Mothers' Union
as we seek to share your love
through the encouragement, strengthening
and support of marriage and family life
Empowered by your Spirit,
may we be united in prayer and worship
and in love and service reach out
as your hands across the world. In Jesus' name.
The Mary Sumner Prayer
All this day, O Lord,
Let me touch as many lives as possible for thee; and every life I touch,
Do thou by thy spirit quicken, whether through the words I speak,
the prayer I breathe, or the life I live.
Mary Sumner: (M.U. Founder 1876)
